Today in class we reviewed all sections of the Nicene Creed, which is the prayer that reflects all our beliefs as Catholics!

So, if any non-Catholic asked what you believe in, you'd take a deep breath of air and spill out the Nicene Creed (you can find an online copy on my Resources Page).

Study for your quiz tomorrow. It's fill in the blank.

The video below will help you study. The images are profound and so is the music. Good luck!

This eight minute video below does a fantastic job explaining how the Trinity exists as one operating God, although many Persons. The video is a bit deep and may go over your head a bit, but it really makes sense if you pause it and let it digest!

What's even cooler is the main speaker of just a few years older than you!

Today's Classwork: Rewrite the poem on page 33 using your own verbs, nouns, adjectives, experiences, and outlooks. The format must be the same. Please type and follow my directions for proper formatting from my personal video below. You may decorate if you wish. Please give it a title.

Homework: Complete for homework.

Blog Post- Watch the embedded video below. There are many ideas, concepts, symbols, and Bible references made here. Post a one sentence response regarding something you learned from these speakers. It MUST be something different than the previous posters. Read everyone's comments to make sure you doen't repeat.

How to Format Essays for Mrs. Beadel's Class

Today's class, although a bit repetitive, focused on how the Bible writers wrote in expressions and words of their era. Using symbolism and storytelling techniques such as figurative language, the Bible is not meant to be taken literally, like a science book.

Check out the video below. First you will see an image, followed by bible quotes that reflect it. There are many bible verses, so it would make sense to pause the video to read them. See how the symbolism takes effect, yet it doesn't tarnish the TRUTH in the Bible!

Comment on your favorite one. You will see a few of these on Friday's test! Be able to interpret them.

We have been discussing Scripture and Tradition a lot over the last few days. We learned that both need to exist and be in practice in order for us to fully uncover God's truth and revelation. Remember that Scripture "is the speech of God as it is put down in writing under the breath of the Holy Spirit" (Catechism of the Catholic Church). Tradition "comes from the apostles and hands on what they received from Jesus' teaching and example and what they learned from the Holy Spirit."

Remember that the first generation of Christians did not yet have a written New Testament, and the New Testament itself demonstrates the process of living Tradition.

Documents from the Church tell us that Tradition began when "the Apostles who, by their oral preaching, by example, and by observances handed on what they had received from the lips of Christ, from living with Him, and from what He did, or what they had learned through the prompting of the Holy Spirit."

These Apostles and other disciples who were under the inspiration of the same Holy Spirit applied the message of salvation to writing.

Check out the two videos below. Notice the pieces from Scripture which discuss Tradition. You may need this for your assignment, so it's wise to pause along the way after viewing it the first time in full.

Download your assignment below. You can print it out and fill it in, or complete it on the computer. This is due Tuesday. I also attached a PDF in case you don't have Word or in case it comes out distorted.

Today's class introduced the idea of truth in preparation for Chapter Two- The Truth Revealed. This chapter will help us to understand that through the scriptures and traditions of the church, we will always know God. There is no way to forget Him and all that He has promised us.

Nowadays, we are faced with many experiences and images that claim to be true. We are bombarded with so much information in our lives that we need to be able to distinguish truth from opinio and fact from fiction. But at the same time, we must live by God's truth, one that can never be distorted.

Attached is the video I showed in class today. Comment to this post your opinion about the media and its truths based on the clip.  Do you feel "duped" as the consumer? How can being aware of this truth (the reality behind ads) assist you in making choices?

Today in class, we completed our group posters representing each of the five proofs. Great job!!! We also took our quiz on the five proofs.

Homework- Watch the videos below to further understand the five proofs. They sound boring at the beginning, but they are super short and totally cool! They are only on Motion, Causation, and Contingency (Possibility).

Select a proof video and discuss an element about it that helped you to understand the proof just a bit more! Due Wednesday at midnight.

God rocks!

One of my FAVORITE songs is called "Dive" by Steven Curtis Chapman, who is a Christian artist. I heard the song in high school, forgot about it for a few years while I was so busy in college, and like a lost puppy, the song found its way back home to me! I chose this song to kick off our new school year because I hope each and every single one of you will DIVE DEEPLY into your faith, get drenched, and soak in all this year has to offer. The lyrics and the pop beat are so catchy, I'm sure you'll listen to it more than once. Please watch the music video below and read the lyrics. This is the ultimate "feel-good" song of faith!

What does this song and DIVING have to do with our Catholicism, especially in your teen years? Your response should include at least three sentences, with no misspellings or mis-capitalizations. Also include one phrase from the song that reaches out to you (the phrase can be as short as three words).
